A Taste of Imagine 2009!

A BIG Thank You.

All of the people who worked on this years festival would like to say a big thank you to all the punters, the artists, the venues, the advertisers and anyone who helped to make it all happen. The festival is totally reliant on the voluntary efforts of all involved and slowly it is becoming the arts festival for Waterford.

The photo shows some of the people who worked on this years festival. We are seeking feedback from anyone who participated in the festival or went to see an event. The feedback should be honest as the intention is that we learn from year to year. Also Imagine would welcome suggestions and recommendations for 2010 and beyond. Imagine would welcome your involvement in future festivals so please state if you would like to get involved and help make this the festival that eventually becomes Irelands premier Arts Festival.

To send feedback, email info@imagineartsfestival.com or post to Imagine Arts Festival, c/o Waterford City Arts Office, The Mall, Waterford.

"Over 80 events in ten days in Waterford covering theatre, literature, dance, film, music, visual art and family events"

MUSIC: The Wedding Present have had eighteen UK Top 40 hit singles… not bad for a band that has from it's inception, stubbornly refused to play the record industry’s game. With their early releases, The Wedding Present had acquired a reputation for bittersweet, breathtakingly honest love songs immersed in whirlwind guitars.

THEATRE: The Murder Monologues, written by Jane Mulcahy, offers a unique insight into the darker elements of the female psyche. In this 'why dunnit', sinister Pam, the serial man-eater, and psychopathic schoolgirl Imka reveal the malice and methods behind their cold-blooded murders.

COMEDY: Andrew Maxwell, an intrepid social commentator, Andrew is renowned for his unique blend of comedy and socio-political observations. Andrew is currently performing his new show THE LAMP at this year’s Edinburgh Festival. He has just completed a nationwide tour of Ireland and in May he appeared on BBC’s HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU.

FILM: Metropolis is a 1927 silent science fiction film directed by Fritz Lang and written by Lang and Thea von Harbou. This classic film will be accompanied by the specially commissioned classical fingering of keys by Morgan Cooke who is fast gaining an international reputation with Blues outfit ‘Cuckoo Savante’.

CHILDREN: Tom Kaufmann, has been developing and creating instruments for several years which he has brought in a 'Musical Instrument petting Zoo' to Schools, Colleges workshops and festivals in The U.S, and it is in this context that Tom comes to Waterford for the Imagine festival this year.

And Lots Lots More!...

The Imagine Festival is run by a voluntary group of people who are a mix of local artists, business people and supporters of the Arts.
